I haven't showered in two weeks

I also only eat takeaway, one meal a day, two at most. I can't sleep or get my behind in front of the computer to work. I've been mentally unwell on and off for decades, and I'm tired. I don't think I've washed my hair in a month. I envy people who have lives they can cope with. I cannot.

Is there anyone with you or nearby who can help? There's a link above with the MN mental health guide. Or call your GP. There are people who care and can help.

threeitchyfeet · 15/01/2021 15:38

I've been there. And am on my way back there. Can you just try to do one thing today? I think a shower and a hair wash would be a good boost. Or tell yourself you'll walk for a full minute away from your house, and maybe you'll end up going a bit longer.

threeitchyfeet · 15/01/2021 15:43

I might even take my own advice and try to do one of those things.

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 15/01/2021 15:45

Please seek help. Your GP is there to help you. In the meantime if you are not eating properly you are probably too weak to shower. Order some shopping. Get things you can easily just eat for example bananas, soup etc. I always have a tin of slim fast in the house for when I get like this. Or have some warm milk with a little bit of sugar in. Your body needs nurishment and it will help. Once you have some energy try and shower. Concentrate on the warmth of the water soothing your body. Baby steps. Good luck OP Flowers

My GP isn't there to help. I've been fighting with care services for years, have sent complaint letters etc, no help. I'm just left to fend for myself.

That's awful OP. Do you live alone? I have never had much luck with services either so I do understand. Do you think you could start to eat a bit better with a view to showering and then doing a little more each day?

Do you have any physical disabilities?

YouBoughtMeAWall · 15/01/2021 16:15

I’ve been there too. I agree MH services are woeful. It doesn’t help to rely on them to help you feel better.

Could you wash yourself with a flannel at the sink? Maybe even just your top half or face and neck?

lubeybooby · 15/01/2021 16:19

Just wanted to suggest getting checked out for ADD/ADHD if you haven't already which can often present like this and contribute to/worsen depression and other MH problems. I recommend psychiatry uk who have an NHS contract and it can all be done by zoom/letter/email etc.

Been there. Just wanted to hold your hand for a sec and let you know you're not alone

Icanseegreenshoots · 15/01/2021 16:22

Oh op, I am so sorry you are feeling so low.

Can you not start now just run a bath or shower?
Do you have family around you?
Maybe small goals of a shower every morning before you do anything?

I hope you know that you are not alone Flowers

Redlined · 15/01/2021 16:32

I have no physical disabilities, but ADHD yes and I get no help.

In so sorry OP, it's so tough. I've been the same, not washing or changing clothes for days, sleeping in my clothes. I've rung the GP this week and sobbed at him. Our area has a self referral mental health service, does your area have something like that? They've sent me an email with numbers to phone that look like they're national, I'll post pics.

WeeDangerousSpike · 15/01/2021 16:35

Pic 1/2 - wouldn't let me post on message for some reason!

I haven't showered in two weeks

Icanseegreenshoots · 15/01/2021 16:36

What do you think could help you?
Are you able to possibly self fund?

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 15/01/2021 16:38

Can you get a new GP? Are you currently receiving any treatment? It's no way to live and is incredibly difficult for you to feel like this. Can you try to completely switch off your brain and go get clean clothes and underwear and out it by the shower now? Then get in, and wash and out. Give 10 minutes to yourself to do this no matter how shit that 10mins feels. Then you can rest again.

YouBoughtMeAWall · 15/01/2021 16:41

Put a chair in your shower and just sit in it. Or even just sit on the floor. You don’t even have to wash yourself. Just sit under the water. You might as well sit in the shower as sit on the sofa or bed. The time passes anyway wherever you sit so it might as well be the shower.

WeeDangerousSpike · 15/01/2021 16:41

OP if you can't see the pics, please say, and I'll transcribe the numbers

PainterInPeril · 15/01/2021 16:44

@Redlined Hi, I'm going through similar. I've just started a thread today too. It's awful isn't it? I'm currently on fluoxetine at the moment but it making everything worse. I hope you can find a way through this. Meanwhile, we're here for you, my lovely! Big hug andFlowers xx

AllTheChocolateNow · 15/01/2021 16:45

You poor love. Do you have a bath? Could you summon the energy to run a bath this evening and just sit in it for 10 minutes? Maybe listen to a podcast or some music while you soak?

I’m so sorry you’re not getting more support. Do you have anyone in RL you can talk to?

Cheeseandwin5 · 15/01/2021 16:58

Initially I thought good for you, but it does sound you are having a MH issue. Please see you GP or a healthcare professional. You seem overwhelmed with life at the moment, as many ppl are, and it may benefit you to get some support.

Redlined · 15/01/2021 17:08

@Cheeseandwin5 good for me? As in you thought I want to not shower and live like this?

OP posts:
PainterInPeril · 15/01/2021 18:00

@Redlined You don't sound tired, you sound exhausted!
As you say, who would choose to live like that?! Maybe the pp didn't read your OP properly.
Are you able to drink plenty of water? It might seem a small thing but its really important to stay hydrated.
Are you able to open your windows for a while each day? Again, it's a small thing but it helps.

LadyPenelowee · 15/01/2021 20:37

Are you on any medication OP?
Has your GP diagnosed you with Depression?

Redlined · 16/01/2021 13:11

I tried different anti-depressants, none of them do anything. They only make me feel worse. GP won't do anything else, it's like I don't exist.

OP posts:
LadyPenelowee · 16/01/2021 14:21

Have you doing any counselling? CBT ?
Do you work?
