Hi. I’m starting CBT tomorrow for sleep but I’m going to ask for it to be aimed at anxiety as I sleep about 7 hours a Night. Problem is I’m in bed for about 13 hours. Come up early so kids can play computer. Does anyone have an experience they are willing to share. Positive vibes by please ! Xx

I think it very much depends on the trainer themselves. I went through burn out about 10 years ago on top of some bereavement related stuff and I underwent CBT. The guy was friendly enough, but he was also very transparent. He would ask leading questions and try to cajole me towards a particular topic or discussion. it was so obvious, and I was happy to chat about whatever it was anyway. I spent most of the time waiting for him to reach the point he wanted, so it wasn't really so helpful for me. I don't think it's anything to be anxious of. I mean everything helps right?

It’s a cpn who is really well thought of so I’m hoping for good outcomes x

I don't think it helped me. It tried to get me to change my thoughts, but the anxiety condition itself will give you all sorts of weird , negative, intrusive thoughts and when you feel better, the anxious thoughts disappear, it never did anything for me. Have a look at Paul David's Anxiety No More. xx

It hasn't worked for mine in the past but I do wonder whether I just haven't seen somebody experienced enough.

CBT-i for sleep, however, is a particular sub-category and is supposed to be proven to be very effective. I can't speak from experience.

I hope you get the help you need. Smile

It should really help, you have to really work at it outside the sessions though

I have 'broken' my anxiety recently by going on a carb free diet and fasting. I don't know if this would help you OP but after seeing an episode of Doctor In The House with Rangan Chattergee I decided to investigate it all a bit on Google and the difference is amazing.
