Sectioning for criminal damage?

A relative of mine is very unwell and receiving treatment as an outpatient but it is very slow moving and the relative is in a fair bit of denial.

They have psychosis and are having paranoid delusions. They have damaged people's personal property and I'm worried about this getting worse. I think they need intensive inpatient treatment and a review of their diagnosis.

Does anyone know if this could come under danger to self/others? It could very easily escalate and due to nature of the delusions I'm worried what would happen if hey believed they were under attack/cornered.
