Thought we'd have a 'free' day out with dd and ds to 'take our mind of money worries - so we went to a nature trail - had lovely time, great walk etc. then, car blew a tyre - stopped to change and put spare on. then car wouldnt start again (on last legs) rung rac but policy cancelled cause not paid the premium. had big row with DH (dont know why, not his fault) Only had 30p between us - had to walk to phone to call MIL to pick us up (who asked now asked for petrol money!!) now just got back and all the nice day forgotten about cant cope much more.

oh you poor thing, how horrible, am at MIl asking for petrol money. does she know about your situation? either way, it is very mean.

SHAZxMAC · 21/10/2007 17:04

yes she does, but to be honest shes pretty much in same situation - just makes me feel sooo awful not being able to fend for ourselves

Aw poor you, what a crappy end to a lovely day out.

Agree MIL is being VERY mean

PintaBlood · 21/10/2007 17:11

Do you both work Shaz?

Are there any ways to budget to try and make sure you have more than 30p between you?

Did MIL have far to go to pick you up?

How can you pay MIL the petrol money if you don't have it. Think she was very mean, but also see that you understand if she is in the same boat as you.

SHAZxMAC · 21/10/2007 17:17

we havent paid it her - she will have to wait til tuesday.

DH worked full time until being made redundant but he starts new job monday we havent had wages for a while.

I am not working at the minute cause have DS only 8 wks and DD who is 20 months. We normally manage money v.well but since DH lost job its really bad.

Pleased hes got a job but just hard catchin up with things.

Of course it will be hard for a while until your dh starts getting a regular wage again. Your mil should respect this though!

Did she have to go far to pick you up?

Hiya

It was about a 20 minute drive.

Feeling a little better now - just felt like the world was against us earlier - now ive just got to try and get kids to bed and get DH to talk to me again.
