Coming off citalopram

Hi everyone, I’ve been on 20 mg of citalopram for 6 months since loosing my baby daughter earlier this year. I’ve spoken to the gp and agreed to reduce my dose. I’m now taking 10 mg every other day but feeling dizzy at times and getting strange zapping feelings when I move my head. The gp wasn’t particularly helpful but said to bare with it. Has anyone else experienced this when coming off citalopram and how long might it last? It’s making me feel bit anxious again and I really don’t want to stay on this medication Thanks everyone x

Oh I'm so sorry for your loss. I have taken it twice and recently came off it successfully but ridiculously slowly. Taking every other day didn't work for me. I did weeks of cutting pills in halves and then quarters. It worked so much better for me.

Hope that helps x

I came off sertraline and each drop lasted 2 weeks in side effects. On citalopram 10mg now and was scared to go up as the 'waves and windows' were awful. I'd say it was 6 weeks after stopping that they fully went. Hang in there.

I bought pill scales on amazon for when I am ready to reduce as the pill is tiny and glossy.

Thank you both. I feel reassured now thanks! Maybe I’m being too optimistic and need to do it a little slower. The brain zaps are horrible x
