DS (20) is currently living at home with us. He's doing a placement year out from his uni course and has been living with us off and on since March when Uni went online.
Back in Feb/March (at exactly the same time covid kicked off) he started complaining of chest pains. He ended up taking himself off to A&E in his uni town and getting checked out/scanned for all the usual heart/lung things but was told he was fit and healthy.
It's got worse again in the last month or so. It's off and on, not constant. He's a bit of a hypochondriac and I know he dwells on stuff and gets himself into a downward spiral, but I don't know what to suggest for him.
He's not registered with a GP locally so nobody will see him.
He says it's 'not bad enough' to warrant a trip to A&E.
In my heart of hearts I feel sure it is anxiety related. He's had a rubbish year, misses socialising with his friends and isn't much enjoying his placement job since it is all online.
I've suggested he sign up for the online NHS CBT course and encourage him to get out and exercise every day. He is eating healthily and takes multivitamins and extra Vitamin D.
He thinks he has private health with his job, so I've told him to look into that to see if there is a well-being service he can access.
What else can I/he do?
