Daily tips / rituals to help with anxiety?

I have a Generalised Anxiety Disorder and it swings between unbearable constant jangling nerves for no reason all day, to being slightly manageable. At the moment, my nerves are jangly so I’ve decided to rearrange my day a little.

At the moment I get out every morning for a walk, no phone after 9pm, and do a gratitude journal (3 good things).

But I want to add more small things in!

Has anything helped you? Daily or weekly?

All recommended to be by a friend who also has anxiety.

Daily meditation, even if it’s just a 5/10 minute one I do it every day without fail.

Meditation also helps with anxiety because it quiets an overactive brain. “For someone with anxiety, it sometimes feels like their mind is like a hamster on a wheel — constantly running, but not really getting anywhere,” -yep!

Yoga twice a week with this lady

And the latest thing I’ve added- Tapping. Sounds bonkers but I hadn’t been able to put fuel in my car for years as I suffer such anxiety about the hose not reaching the tank. I went to the petrol station last week and did it. Didn’t even need fuel as I had half a tank but suddenly realised I would be fine.

I feel there is light at the end of the tunnel Smile

These look so great - thank you! I keep feeling like I must do yoga and mediation, i just need that nudge to self to get started.

I haven’t heard of tapping before! I am very interested in that!

Following with interest as I really suffer too. Mine is more situational anxiety so I'm generally ok at home but if I have to go to certain places it brings on a huge panic attack that leaves me retching, shaking and often running for the nearest loo Blush in those horrible moments i try box breathing which is inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds then release for 8 seconds.

Day to day I try to get out for walks, minimise alcohol, write a journal and practice yoga twice a week. I've also recently succumbed to taking medication for the first time but haven't noticed a big difference yet :(

The podcast sounds great - looking for it now!

Jumpingjosephene21 Oh that sounds really tough. I hope the medication starts to work for you soon.

Like you, I’ve realised I need to cut out alcohol Sad I’ve almost entirely eliminated it and it definitely helps but it hasn’t completely fixed it. Although I do notice if I have a glass of wine etc, I feel absolutely horrible the next few days - even only one glass does that! (both a hangover and all my anxiety symptoms so much worse). I think I probably need to tell myself I don’t drink anymore... but I so enjoy joining in once in a while!
