Medication when pregnant

Just wondered if anyone else has experience of this? I was taking sertraline 50mg for a year then slowly weaned myself off as I felt better. Am currently 18 weeks pregnant and can feel myself feeling noticeably bad. Can’t help but feel I need more support 😞

Lots of women take antidepressants in pregnancy. Make an apt with your doctor to discuss it.

Sertraline is one of the ones that are ok during pregnancy. I took it until I was around 8 weeks, I was planning to take it through my whole pregnancy but I was in a really good place and felt well enough to come off it.
If you are struggling please talk to your midwife & GP. Are there any talking therapies in your area (CBT etc) I found this really helped me.

Also your midwife or GP should be able to refer you to the perinatal mental health team in your area. If you don't need their support right now at least you will be on their radar if you need it in the future

Thanks ladies, I know how much sertraline helps but can’t help but feel a failure for needing it again. Just want to feel ok

You’re not a failure for needing medication if it helps.
I’ve been on sertraline for over 20 years now, including during both pregnancies from about 12 weeks. Pregnancy is such a triggering time for all sorts of reasons, please don’t struggle on when there’s something that can help you.
