Pregabalin

It has been a very difficult few weeks. I have been prescribed Pregabalin to help control my panic attacks. I know I need to do something but the more I read about this drug the more I worry that the cure could be worse than the disease. Does anyone have any positive stories/experiences of taking this drug?

Not me personally, but I've worked with dozens of people who take Pregabalin as part of a medication plan, and I can say that without exception it's the other drugs they complain about and not the Pregabalin itself. Just for clarity's sake, they usually take it to counter restless leg and such that is usually a side-effect of taking other psychiatric medicines.

Hope that helps you somewhat.

I'm on a smallish dose for pain, and other than putting on a load of weight at my first dose increase (which is coming off now thankfully) I haven't had any other side effects. I'm quite happy with it (other than the change to class C meaning a repeat prescription every 28 days, and needing to remember to take ID to the pharmacy).

Thank you for your replies. They have helped put my mind at rest a bit. Weight gain doesn’t sound great but it will worth it if it helps me to get my life back.

I didn’t put on weight but to begin with, they made me stagger a bit and feel drunk. They also completely got rid of hangovers for me.

Friend of mine has recently gone on it. It defo is helping her. She felt ‘spaced out’ for a couple of weeks but is fine now. She has defo put on quite a bit of weight though - she says she’s hungry all the time.

I didn't get on with it at all (though to be fair I may not have given it long enough). It made me feel to tired and zonked out to drive so was impacting my day to day life in a negative way.

I have now started taking it. I do feel rather tired and spaced out but the anxiety and panic is improving. It’s a relief to get some respite from the panic attacks.
