Hi.

I am currently on Sertraline and my GP has added Propranolol as my anxiety has flared up again. I've only taken 2 doses so far and both times its made my anxiety worse. Is anyone on these meds and is it fairly normal?

I take it with setraline and for me it’s been a godsend. Maybe try to give it a few more days and then contact your Gp? I know when I started setraline for the first week I felt so bad I nearly gave up on it

Yeah sertraline is rough to begin with. She said the propranolol was quick to work so I wasn't expecting to feel worse. I'll keep going and see, thanks Smile

My pulse is definitely slower which us what propranolol is supposed to do but my stomach is in knots and I feel worse than I did yesterday. I'm wondering if that can happen or it'll settle down or the propranolol doesn't suit me.

Hi OP,

Just wanted to check in and see how you are finding the Propranolol now it's been a couple of days. I do hope you are feeling a little better Flowers

I find it affects me in a similar way to how you described - it definitely slows my pulse which is a big relief as I'm sure you know sometimes it feels like your heart could pop right out of your chest - but it doesn't seem to lessen the actual feeling of anxiety as much as the physical symptoms.

Fingers crossed you have some success with it. Take care :)

Hi Livinlovin

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I still don't find propranolol that good, I take one if I get really bad but thats it. My gp has just given me a sleeping tablet, some kind of diazepam, for the nightmares and waking up.

Thanks for the post 🙂
