How to alleviate sertraline headache?

I have just started taking sertraline and it is giving me a headache. I tried paracetamol and then later ibuprofen but neither helped. Is there any way to alleviate a headache from sertraline?

Paracetamol and ibuprofen both worked for me. I only had headaches for the first few days, it's got much better. Just over a week in and things have definitely settled down.

What about the sickness? Did you have that?

The only thing that worked for me was stopping. I lasted 3 weeks of constant headaches but no sickness. Would probably have tried longer but I also had pins & needles in my hands/arms for the duration as well.

@Dinosauratemydaffodils

How long did it take for the headaches to go after you gave up?

About a week I think.

If headache and sickness are you getting migraines? If so you can get specific meds to help with that, either over the counter or preferably prescribed.

Yes, I switched morning to take mine at night so found that the side effects were much less in the day, I was asleep when the worse side effects kicked in.
Also the nausea was much better.

Sorry, just to add that I did this as I found the sickness & headaches started within (or worsened) about 2 hours of taking the tablet.

If the nausea is persistent, your GP may be able to prescribe something to help alleviate it. There may also be something you can buy over the counter, you could ask a pharmacist what they would recommend. I think it is worth persevering with Sertraline if you can.

It's only been a few days but it is not much fun at the moment. I don't have a headache for a few hours a day before I take the pill. I have gone off eating though. I will give it another week and then see where I am. Got some ginger in case that helps the nausea.
