Venlefaxine and vomiting

Took my first dose of 75mg today and vomited within an hour. I took it after food. I still feel horrendous. I've got a three month old baby and am worried about how to get through the day.

Has anyone else vomited when they started taking it, and did this improve? I'm not sure if I can tolerate feeling so physically unwell whilst being in charge of DD with DH at work.

I had the same experience it did get better after about six weeks. According to my gp sickness is unfortunately very common with this medication.

If the sickness does not go in the next week or so, I think you should speak to your GP. They may be able to prescribe something to help with the nausea. Vomitting and nausea is horrible, I do really sympathise with you.

Thank you both. Six weeks feels like such a long time right now!

I had cyclazine in pregnancy and that didn't help the nausea unfortunately but the GP did mention anti sickness. I feel better this afternoon thankfully, but I daresay my body may not have absorbed much of it this morning so it will probably get worse before it gets better...

I'm on Venlafaxine and luckily didn't have any side effects. I'm on 137.5mg now. I take mine right before bed though, could that be an option so hopefully you'd sleep through any nausea?

Whatever you do don't just stop taking it though, the effects of that are effing horrendous! I forgot two doses in a row and thought I was dying until I remembered what I'd done and took one dose and felt better within two hours.

That's good to know @Drogonssmile I co sleep at the minute and was told to take it in the morning as a result. I think DD would be OK in her snuz pod but I'm so anxious I just lie awake listening for her and get no sleep. I also worry about being so tired I fall asleep mid feed if I take it at night even if I'm trying to get her back in her snuz each time.
