According to the CBT book, laughing at yourself, or seeing the funny side of depression, is very good therapy. So, hope you can laugh at this with me ...

THE PSYCHIATRY HELPLINE

When you phone companies nowadays, you always get 'Menus' to select from: 'Existing customers, press button 1, new accounts press button 2' etc.

When you phone the Psychiatry Helpline, you get:

'Thank you for calling the Psychiatry Helpline. If you suffer from OCD, press button 1 repeatedly without let-up until someone stops you, NOW.

If you suffer from Co-Dependancy Syndrome, get your friend to press button 2 for you, NOW.

If you suffer from Multiple Personality Disorder, press buttons 3, 4 and 5, NOW.

If you suffer from Chronic Clinical Depression, what's the good of pressing button 6 now, it won't make any difference and nothing we can say will help you anyway.

If you suffer from Paranoia, you don't need to press button 7 now: we know who you are and where you are, and we are coming to get you NOW.....

MummyToSteven · 19/10/2004 22:23

Oi MIAM. you're really not doing a good job of lurking today

anorak · 19/10/2004 22:33

miam! good to see that name on the boards again!

jampot · 19/10/2004 22:40

Have also seen

"If you are blonde don't press anything, you'll only screw it up"

miam · 19/10/2004 22:57

Jampot Hope blondes can also laugh at themselves ....

I know MTS. My will-power is absolutely abismal!! Enjoyed the lurking whilst it lasted though, but I'm just too mouthy to stay in the shadows for long.

Hi anorak. Much prefer my new name - not as screamingly self-obsessed as the first one! It's nice to be back in the land of MN again, although I really am ashamed at my lack of self-control. Will blame it on the ginger wine, and the driving game! Am a bit shocked though that dh is SOOO bad!

oooooh ginger wine. sounds yum

miam · 19/10/2004 23:03

Mmm it is, or was as the bottle is finished now boo hoo. I have it with diet cola, which I suppose is really disgusting, but is actually gorgeous. Am going on a really strict health kick diet tomorrow (keep hereditary diabetes at bay!) so am using up all the naughty stuff in the house today!!

Christie, do you want to start a new thread for Anorak? She is one of the most lovely people on here, and deserves loads of support in return for the comfort she has given others.
