Hi!

World Mental Health day is on the 10th October and I have registered with the Mental Health Foundation to hold a Tea and Talk Fundraiser. This will take place on October 10th at 11am.

The T&T fundraiser is a great way to raise awareness of mental health, it’s great for everyone; those who would like to learn more about MH, those who would want to talk to others in a similar situation, or for those who just fancy a chat - it won’t all be about mental health!

This year is obviously a little bit different. The Tea & Talk is usually held at a venue in person. But given the Covid situation this isn’t possible and I feel that that alone makes talking to others so much more important. These aren’t normal times and it is showing in the statistics behind mental health recently. This is why I’ve decided to post to MN, because it’s a virtual chat, there is no travel; so you can pop your own kettle on and have a chat from the comfort of your own home.

A little background about me; I’m 24, I have a 9 month old daughter and for as long as I can remember I’ve suffered with generalised anxiety, panic disorder and agoraphobia. Since having DD my mental health has declined due to a traumatic end to my pregnancy. I’ve only just got the courage and motivation to get back into contact with a therapist and doing that has given me a motivation to want to help those who are in similar situations, those who would like help to get help.

The Mental Health Foundation recommend a donation of £2-£3 although there is no general rule so you can donate what you feel comfortable.

If you would like anymore information please feel free to pop me a message where I can provide my name and a contact email/number for you along with more details.

Side note: I have created a Charity Fundraising page on GoFundMe with the Mental Health Foundation which means the donation go straight to the MHF - as I wouldn’t expect people to want to send money to someone they do not know!
