Why do I feel like this after a holiday or break away?

We've just returned from a wonderful long weekend away me, Hubby, son (3.5) Mother in law, and my mum.
We got home a couple of hours ago and I just feel so emotional and tearful. I don't really know 'why' just that I feel like it every time I come back from holiday or a break away with my family.
We had the most special time making memories, laughing and having fun all together and after everything that's gone on the last couple of months with Covid etc I feel SO grateful and lucky to have been able to get away and spend some time as a family.
I know it sounds silly but even unpacking makes me emotional, my mum bought my DS a ball and toy and when I saw it I got all emotional thinking of the fun time we all had. And looking through my photos and seeing my DS sat on the sofa in our caravan with my mum and MIL reading him a bed time story makes me well up as it's just things we haven't been able to to lately and now I'm home I feel sad 😔
I don't really know what I want from this post as no one can help it just makes me feel better writing it down 😔

I think it's normal to feel a little sad when you've had a lovely time away. I'm sure it will pass - try and plan something nice to look forward to in the next few days.

It's good that you've written it down. That feeling will pass. It's just what happens when we return to normality from having such an amazing time. I get like that too so you're not alone. Try to think about the next amazing trip you will make in the future.

I think this is why we meet up and share photos and talk about all the things we did on holiday endlessly! To relive the lovely memories. Can you show/tell more people?

It reminds you of the passage of time.

Also, nobody wants to come back from having fun and return to the mundane.

I get over it by planning the next one Grin

I get this too. It feels like homesickness...but for your holiday. I think I get it because I've had such a lovely time with special people and don't want to go back to normal everyday life.

I cried loads when I came back from my holiday a couple of years ago.

Always get the holiday blues! It's that back to reality thing
