A couple of years ago I got counselling through work for severe anxiety caused by an incident in work.

My counsellor was brilliant and get to know me well.

I am experiencing a bit of a relapse but don’t want to access the counselling through work. The counsellor gave me her mobile number at one point incase I needed to talk between sessions. I never used it.

Would it be crossing a line to text her now and ask if she would see me in a private capacity?

Also - how much does private counselling cost? I was thinking £50 per session seems about right?

I think that would be ok. Have you googled her - if she works privately that would probably come up on google.

I don’t know her surname unfortunately. Might text tomorrow. Sh can ignore the text if she doesn’t think it’s appropriate

It is totally fine to contact her. Many clients will return to a counsellor they had a good working relationship with if after a period of time if needs be.

And yes, around 50 per session is the going rate, a bit more in London....

I'm' also from London I now pay £44.50 a session, but my therapist does see me on a lower fee (which has gone up with covid. His normal fee is £57 and £67 for a session past 7pm.
