Pregabalin for anxiety?

I. Am. Beyond. Sick. Of. Anxiety😞

I’ve had millions of antidepressants. 6 made the anxiety worse almost to the point of hospitalisation. I’m sick of them all, they all cause horrible random side effects that no one else has.

I’m quivering with anxiety. I’ve had 18 episodes of anxiety/depression in my life. Some very severe. I have to stay on a medication but they all cause hideous side effects. I’ve tried 17 or 18. 3 caused severe allergies.

I’m seeing a pyschiatrist today. I’m worn out with mental health. Does pregabalin make you stuff your face in the same way as Paroxetine, amitryptiline and mirtazapine?

I’m on Pregabalin 75mg twice daily for severe anxiety. I’ve been on this for around 4-5 weeks and it’s not helping. I had one or two good days when I started and since then it’s done nothing to ease my anxiety
Like you, I’ve been in loads of different meds, I think this is my last resort.
Luckily I’ve had no side effects but equally it’s doing nothing positive.
I spoke to my GP and she advised doubling the dose. I’m going to give that a try

No idea if it's possible anymore but as you've already tried so many alternatives, you've nothing to lose by asking for prn (per required need) diazepam. I found it invaluable in the past.

They threw the baby out with the bathwater imo. People used to be immediately prescribed high dosages for indefinite periods with little contact and follow up with doctors. All that was needed was a balance.

Hi, can't offer any advice on pregbalin but just wanted to say that I feel your pain. I've had repeated episodes too, currently on Sertraline and propanolol but I can't really say it helps other than it would be worse without it! Have you tried any alternative therapies? For me I feel like there are quite a few underlying issues from my childhood etc. I'm fed up of cbt and exposure therapy and now trying lots of other things.

I had a zoom with a private psychiatrist last night.

He’s said in hard to treat cases low dose anti psychotics work well, and nortryptiline.

I have seen a few in the past, and they do seem to be the ones to sort it. A GP would never prescribe anti psychotics for anxiety.

I’ve had every therapy going. It’s all based in child hood issues. All medicines make me put on weight. If l didn’t care about this, l would be on one called Chlomipramine. I felt radiant on that, but would go into shops and buy 6 bars of chocolate and just eat them😞

That's interesting, not heard of anti-psychotics for anxiety. Ironically part of my problem is that the idea of having anxiety and there being something wrong with me also causes me massive anxiety but after the night I've just had I feel like I'd try anything 🙈
