Anyone take pregabalin?

Hello, does anyone take pregabalin for anxiety?

I've done the SSRI's and they don't work for me. I'm on propranolol and having CBT but it just doesn't seem to be shifting. I have GAD for reference so my anxieties just spiral out of control and once I manage to sort it out it leaps straight onto something else.

Google tells me I may be offered pregabalin if nothing else works, but I'm very skeptical of drugs as they have just caused horrendous side effects for me in the past.

Can anyone offer any insight? I'm fed up of living like this.

I took it for chronic pain. I needed a fairly high dosage (200mg three times a day). It made me feel very foggy headed and unfortunately I did gain quite a lot of weight on it (but until the pain started I’d been doing SW so basically gained back what I’d lost). Have you tried tricyclics? I tried 3 different SSRIs and never got on with them, tried Lofepramine, the only side effect I had was getting dizzy on standing which settled in time (I just took my time when I stood). It’s worth discussing the options. Hope you find something that helps soon Flowers

I have, although for pain more than anxiety. It caused a heavy foggy head feeling, which never really dissipated, and a lot of weight gain for me too. Quite similar to NoOne. I came off it due to the foggy feeling, which wasn’t necessarily better than the anxiety. I have GAD too.

To be honest, propranolol when it’s really bad and years of learning coping strategies is all that worked for me. It’s manageable 80% of the time at the moment, 90% when we’re not in the current situation.

I hope you find something that works Flowers

I'm on pregabalin and for me it's been brilliant. I no longer have sweaty palms all day every day and a racing heart beat thumping loudly in my chest.

I also have sciatica and it helps that too. I'm on 300mg twice a day.

Hmm no I've not tried tricyclics yet, I don't really know much about them. Someone I know uses some sort of tricyclics for pain I think and says they are hideous. But I may look into that thanks!

To be honest my head feels so foggy as it is without any medication so I'm not sure whether it would make it worse or better. It's the side effects of things I can't handle. I have terrible health anxiety so any different thing with my body I really spiral (for example headache = brain tumour, sore throat on one side = throat cancer etc).

I really do want something to help though. I can't remember the last time I felt truly happy in myself. Every day is survival mode for me, and some days I really struggle to do the basics, which isn't ideal considering I have two pre schoolers.
