Daughter in debt

My grandson nursery rang to tell me that my daughter gave them a bounced chq for fees. She has got herself mixed up with a scumbag and has taken a lot of loans(for his car) and I mean a lot!She has been living at home with me as teenage mum,now 19 and working, but since i started opening her mail she's moved in with her b/f family.My question is (sorry took ages to get there)as I'm on Wtc can my daughter trf my grandson onto me so I will at least pay nursery fees.I'm scared nursery will refuse to have him,my g/s is 2yrs and my daughter not good at playing with him etc, and I cannot afford to pay. desperate for any info.

Do you mean can your daughter have the tax credit paid to you? I think the issues run deeper than the current debt that has come to light. Why are you opening her mail?

She probably needs help to help herself not a ready made solution in you shouldering all responsibility.

I understand how worried you are, but the nursery fees are her problem I'm afraid. You can't fix it by opening her mail - apart from anything else it's actually illegal - I'm sure you must have been very distressed to have been driven to this. Unless your grandson is living with you and you are working, the tax credit people won't pay his nursery fees, sorry

My grandson has lived with me ( and my daughter) since birth.I only came across loans etc when I was doin my weekly shredding pile and one of the rejections was amongst them, after that I noticed letters from loan companies and after taking her for girly chat I'd hoped she wld open up but it had the oposite effect.Then I had a call from a pawnbrokers re debt and she gave me a logical reason which I believed but 3 days later a letter which I opened, the debt is over £15.000,000.It's very scary and she told my husband to teach me a lesson for opening her mail she wld not let me see my g/s.I want my g/s to have at least his nursery to go to but the money she recieves from wtc is meeting her debts.

She has to have enough to live on and to be able to go to work - so enoug for the childcare and the law allows for this. Therefore, she needs to stop the debt in its tracks by dealing with the issue that is causing it and then deal with what remains y meeting with the CAB to discuss the options. There will be a solution for her but she has to work out why she got in this situation in the first place and to be honest it doesn't sound like she is ready to face that yet, sad as that is for you and your grandson.

I think a visit to the CAB is a good idea-it will at least give me the legal side of things.Her dad says we should just let her fall into the pit of despair and sort it out herself but I think I've beaten her to it!I'm tempted to arrange a meeting with her b/f family but part of me says stay out.
