Anyone take propranolol?

Hi, does anyone here take propranolol for anxiety?

I've been prescribed it after having no luck with anti depressants, but after my bad experiences with the side effects of them I am wary to take these. I have been prescribed 40mg to take as and when needed up to 3 times a day.

I'd love to hear some experiences of it if anyone has used it

Ive taken it for heart problems. It reduces your blood pressure and slows your heart rate (which is why it helps with anxiety). Some people feel mentally foggy and can get a bit light headed if they stand up too fast, but if you keep going for about two weeks, the body adjusts and this can go away. If it makes you feel dreadful, there are different versions of the drug that can sit better with you, so give it two or three weeks and then re assess.
Are you having any CBT for the anxiety? The best results come from a combination of medicine and therapy like CBT

I’m on 80mg and the side effects for me are more anxiety, tinnitus and fainting!

I’ve just reduced my dose to 20mg and feel much much better Smile

I take them Smile not so much anymore, and it’s always been on an “as and when” basis like you, not as a regular daily dosage like others.

For me I had horrible side effects with anti depressants but nothing with these, and they are effective. As you don’t have to take them daily you can always take and then stop easily if you do have any side effects.
