I had my dose of sertraline upped from 50mg to 100mg and I've been taking they new dose since Tuesday. I've noticed that for a few hours after taking the tablet my heartbeat has felt a bit funny... is this common? I didn't experience this with the lower dose.

Sertraline is a drug that can affect heart rhythm, the QT interval which can become prolonged. I don't know if that is happening with you, it may be something else entirely or minor sign of adjusting. . I also don't know if it is normal or concerning, but I would definitely raise it with your doctor asap and ask about the QT interval prolongation issue with this drug. I take Sertraline and I also now take another drug which can affect the QT interval, and because I was combining the two they gave me an ecg (?) beforehand to try to spot any prexisting issues. I hope that was enough to tell them, I am not sure. Maybe you need something like that, or a 24 hour monitor at home thingy. Definitely worth being very cautious about this and getting it checked. If worried, taper dose back down till you can get advice. Although don't panic, it may turn out to be nothing!

I had palpitations when I took sertraline so was switched to a different anti-depressant. I would speak to your GP about it.
