Please can someone recommend a therapist for my adult daughter?

I have NC'd for this.

DD is 21 and is in the process of being diagnosed for autism. She has a history of depression/self-harming/suicidal feelings/eating disorders. She gained a place at university but dropped out in the second year after she was raped. She has had counselling in the past and been on ADs, but doesn't want to take medication again as she feels it makes her worse not better, but she does want to have therapy where she can hopefully gain some support and coping skills.

I want to support her in any way I can and she has asked me to look into this, as she doesn't feel well enough to do it herself, but I would much prefer to have a recommendation rather than contacting somebody 'cold'. Assuming that most therapists are working by Zoom now, location doesn't matter.

I would be really grateful for any suggestions/recommendations, as I am so worried about her.

Thank you.

What are her preferences? I knew I wanted a male, with experience of working with rape survivors and filtered by area after that. Other than that I looked at photos to find someone I liked the look of, who didn't remind me visually of my abuser. Really you need to do a few trial sessions as when you are a victim of sexual abuse, you don't want to be triggered by your therapist, be it their appearance or their mannerisms. You have to feel safe with them even online.

I'll happily recommend my therapist but does she have any preferences for male/female or age or anything?

Thank you so much for replying nothing. She hasn't expressed a preference, she is just so overwhelmed by it all. I would be extremely grateful for your recommendation if you don't mind. Did your therapist help you? Maybe you could PM me, if thats' ok? Thank you so, so much. I am really worried about her so it would be wonderful to find someone who can help her. I just feel so helpless.

If you look on the mind website it gives you a list of private therapists by area. Then you can google individual ones to see what they look like , what their experience is etc.

Thank you Sandy

I don't have personal experience of using this service but I saw on a group I am part of someone recommended this online service and said it had been life changing for her www.ugotthis.org so it might be worth a look. I think she said it was £90 per session and she had had treatment for PTSD.
