Steraline for Anxiety

Hello,
I've just recently been prescribed 50mg Steraline for anxiety. I was told to take half a tablet for the first 7 days then after than I can take a tablet each morning.
In 3 weeks time I have something I need to attend which is basically the reason I believe my anxiety started (and everything building up to this appointment). I'd really like to know if the Steraline will have started working by then? And if I started taking the full tablet rather than half in the home it will get into my system sooner?

TIA xxx

Hi. I’ve been on sertraline since May. I was prescribed 50mg but when I asked pharmacist and doctor if I should half the dose both said no - the quicker I start, the quicker I’ll feel better. Obviously I’m not telling you to do the same if you’ve been told differently though. I’ve been prescribed it for anxiety and I must admit the first week was awful - more anxious than ever. Started to settle down in the second week and begun to feel better in third week. I must say though, I was very anxious (health anxiety around a specific illness) and had been getting worse for a couple of months before taking tablets. Anyway, doctor increased dose to 100mg after eight weeks. I feel so much better now. I’m also having CBT which has helped too. I hope it works quickly for you and in three weeks time you’ll feel less anxious and able to deal with the situation you’re facing. Good luck.x

Thank you so much for your reply that's so helpful. I cant wait to start feeling the effects - I've heard it's a liberating feeling! I think I'll stick to what I've been given for now but it's good to know there are other options if this doesnt work xx

@Desperate30 thanks so much for replying, I like hearing it's worked for people! That's interesting to hear. My num was never advised to start with half when she had them years ago so I think it cant hurt.

Are you able to tell me more about CBT? I've been considering it for a while now as I've heard great things but I dont know an awful lot about it xx

If you get a good CBT therapist it’s fantastic but I had a couple of not so good experiences before I began seeing my current therapist. She has been great - discussing how I think and why I have those thoughts and giving me tools to change my mindset. I would recommend her to anyone. She really has changed my life. When I started seeing her I wasn’t confident that I would ever get better but she always left me feeling confident and that anything was possible after our sessions. All sessions have been on Zoom because of Covid but it’s worked well. If you’re in the south east I’d certainly recommend her.x
