Missing therapist

Is anyone else really missing their therapist over the summer break? I promised myself I wouldn’t get needy and dependent, but I really, really miss her. 50 mins of calm stability in the week make such a difference.

It’s not needy and dependent - it’s emotionally intelligent to seek therapy, to value it and know its an important calm and stable part of your week. Are you able to use the same time slot each week during the break to take yourself off and do some journaling or reflecting on what you have achieved so far and what your next goals might be?

Thank you Ssslou- I haven’t done that, but it’s a really good idea. I’ll try that out!

Yeah, mines back Monday and its honestly the longest 3 weeks of the year. I think I dont realise how much difference that hour a week makes until I dont have it then I miss him like crazy.

Not too long for you now, then, nothing . . .

No, just trying to stay busy. I'll probably end up bawling like an idiot as soon as I hit the driveway.

Have you got much longer?

It’s a sign you have a good bond with your therapist. Are they away for long? Could you negotiate if it would be ok to have some kind of contact until you can meet?

Not that long - another two weeks. I’ll be fine waiting, and she did ask if it was manageable and I said yes. I just didn’t expect to miss her as much as I do. It’s nice to think it means there’s a good bond - thank you,

I might end up bawling too, nothing! Hope your session goes well on Monday.
