Hey guys, I've been prescribed escitalopram for social anxiety, overthinking and depression. I've never ever heard of it before, does anyone have any experience of what these are like? I've been on sertraline and fluoxetine before and both didn't work for me. X

Yer I was on them for years, my gp at the time said they were a more refined drug than the citalopram I was on at the time.
I was on 10mg then few years later after a bad episode of depression again upped to 20mg for years worked well for me at the time I was on them.

Aww I'm glad they worked well for you!!! Did you have any side effects?

I have been on it for years, it is the generic of Lexapro and I think it's brilliant. You have to taper on very slowly and if you ever decide to come off it do it very slowly too, but your GP should guide you.

I've come off successfully twice but after my last relapse of crippling anxiety I am back on it for life I reckon. I had side effects for the first 2 weeks of going back on it the third time, but a lot of that was because I was close to breakdown anyway my anxiety was so bad.

Otherwise I've had no side effects whatsoever and it has made my life livable. Best of luck with it - I hope it works for you Thanks.

Hey.

I know this is an old thread but I’m hoping to get some advice regarding Ecitalopram. I am suffering with horrendous PMDD and find the week before my period I feel so out of control, helpless, teary, self conscious, worthless and just all over the place. It’s affecting me massively and I’m filled during this week with self doubt and anxiety. For the other 2 weeks of my cycle I’m happy, grateful and so thankful for my wonderful life. I’m a mum to a beautiful 20 month old little boy, and I want to know if taking Ecitalopram will help me get through these awful weeks during my cycle so that I can be myself? Xx
