I am extremely restless recently changed over meds feet and toes won't stop twitching. Finding it hard to settle down to one task or concentrate it's like nothing is what I want to do, as it doesn't involve being out doing insane stuff.

Just want to be able to relax and settle down for the night.

No sleep there's a rat in my house and I cannot get rid of it and it just keeps eating the poison. My head is going to go it wasn't so long ago I was a homeless junkie and wouldn't give a fuck about the fact I was sleeping near rats, this is making me feel like being a recovered addict has made me weaker I don't understand why they didn't frighten me then yet now I'm petrified of the fucking things.

A rat 😱 I'm not surprised you can't sleep. That doesn't make you weak; it makes you a properly-functioning human being. The not-giving-a-fuck was a bad thing!

Okay, so, I've kept pet rats and I know how they think. The rat is going to want to avoid you as much as possible. The kind of rat we get in the UK, it's almost impossible to get them to attack you; you'd essentially have to have them trapped in a tiny place and try to grab them, before they'd try to bite. It'll mostly keep to dark corners and edges.

I'd recommend this kind of trap, rather than poison www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004MHR2GM?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 (and not the old fashioned wire snap traps). Put it somewhere where you know they'll run along, preferably near some shelter. For the first couple days, don't set the trap to go off, just let the rat get used to it being there. Maybe stick a dab of peanut butter on there. Then hopefully it'll be more likely to take the bait properly from the trap, and splat. Poison isn't great anyway because they tend to die and decompose in inaccessible places.

Hi Theodoreb, possibly a stupid question but could it be akathisia? I had this after starting risperidone and had to stop taking it, I just couldn't tolerate it

Yester · 21/07/2020 19:13

Have you tried doing yoga nidra relaxation. I did every day (sometimes 3 times a day) in my last manic phase. Really helped with twitching hell

Yester · 21/07/2020 19:14

Ps you're doing brilliantky getting off the streets. Baby steps now

My friend is trying to get a ferret as nothing is working with them, i just can't sleep or nothing and my friend who always kept ferrets until a month ago just before I needed them typical, he says they breed like mad. I can't sleep, just feel like I want to use so I won't care again, I cannot cope I got a friend sleeping over as I'm frightened to go toilet alone, yet they never used to bother me.

Yes I do have akathesia I have a medication to combat it but trying not to take it but at the minute only thing keeping me going is diazepam.
