Anti depressants Side Effects

Hello all; I suffer from anxiety and mostly my symptoms are foggy brain, dizziness, blurred vision (comes and goes), not much appetite and overall feeling numb.
My question is; these are the side effects of most anti depressants, so is there any point in taking them if they don't cure what I'm feeling?
Is anyone on ADs and not had these side effects? Does anyone just feel like their normal selves?

Have a good weekend all xx

Bow long have you been on the anti depressants? And what do you take? I take 30 mg citalopram have done for around 7 years. I get some occasional nausea, but take other medication which could cause that. I wish my appetite was reduced! Overall they help me live my life. I've tried coming off and it wasn't good. I have a nice life and my anxiety doesn't really make sense to my circumstances so I take these and they do help.

Hi! Not taking anything as my anxiety symptoms seem to be mimicking ad side effects with what I'm reading online. Sorry if that wasn't clear :(

Thank u, speaking to the GP he's actually just recommended 10mg of citalopram to try and relax me! Fingers crossed it will work as good as it has for u :)

Any anti-Dep side effects will only last a week or two though and then you’ll feel a lot better

So have you ever taken any antidepressants? If not then not taking them because you might get some of the side effects which are similar to your anxiety, seems overly cautious. People get various side effects but unfortunately no one can say what you will get. Sorry if it's not helpful to say! 10mg is a low dose. often the side effects are does related and a good way to start is on low dose. But if your question is has anyone not had the side effects you describe. Then yes I have have on the whole not had these side effects.

Also yes the first few weeks are the worst side effect wise. But honestly my side effects haven't been too bad. For how much they do for me!

Honestly, nobody can answer this for you as everyone reacts differently. I've had some where I've had zero side effects and some where I've had significant side effects - I've even had different experiences with the same drug at different times in my life. All you can do is try, keep going for 4-6 weeks and hopefully you'll see some improvement. Any side effects are usually short lived.

Best op luck! Anxiety is really hard I understand. I was very resistant to trying medication for probably 4 years actually. I wish I'd tried them sooner.

Sometimes you get them sometimes you don't. I cant take sertraline or citalopram because they are so severe. They are the two most well tolerated ADs you can get and I cant handle them. Yet Amitriptyline, the one I take is not often prescribed any more because of its many and severe side effects but all I get is a bit of dry mouth. Its annoying actually, when I have to tell HCPs what meds I take they always ask if I'm sure and say it must be something else.

It honestly depends on the person.
