She's 19yo. Had a phone consultation today with a specialist who her GP referred her to. Specialist also thinks she has PTSD but isn't sure as normally people with PTSD are anxious but dd says she feels numb.
She says she's felt like this for 2 years but has only recently told me. She says it was like a switch was flicked on her head one day. It seems to result from something quite traumatic which happened to her which again I didn't know about until recently.
She says she can't remember stuff, feels like she's in a fog/everything is unreal. She's struggling at uni after been very bright at school. Did great in her GCSEs, terrible in A Levels which she says was because of the memory issues she was having at the time.
She's terrified she's going to fail uni. I've suggested she takes a year out to try and improve her mental health. She seems keen for this. I've been reading about CBT and also some sort of rapid eye movement reprogramming therapy.
Has anyone any experience - has any therapy helped? Should she be going back to her GP for anti depressants if she's depressed? The specialist is talking to her supervisor today becuase of being unsure if PTSD is one of the issues and is going to ring dd back.
