Hi, just wondered if anyone has applied for PIP Mandatory Reconsideration and how long it took, after sending off your Mandatory Reconsideration form, to get a decision back from them? The guidance says approx ten weeks but I wondered if in reality it takes longer....? Thank you.

Took my 8 weeks and first time I was awarded low rate care after reconsideration I was awarded higher rate.

Took about 4 weeks.

I had to do an MR but it was 3 years ago and it took about 6 weeks for a reply- mine was successful. May I ask have you just had a PIP award outcome arrive? I sent mine off in March and when I called they said they aren’t processing at the moment, I just wondered if yours was a recent decision. Thanks

Hi, thanks all for the replies. It seems the timescale can differ vastly! I hope we hear soon. It’s been a rough road.

If you win at MR do they backdate you’re payments from the date you made your original claim? Or only the date you applied for your MR?

@Milbo The MR form was sent off on 4 June, chased them yesterday and they said they’d received it, and were processing it. They didn’t give any indication of how far they’d got with it. Just said the generic “It should take around 10-12 weeks” but “that’s just a guide”.

@Pegs11 it gets backdated to the original claim date. I actually knew I had won the MR as the money was in my account long before I got the letter. Good luck.
