DS is 8, he is a great kid but he is really starting to struggle with homeschooling, I have been struggling with it from the start so DP stepped up and did it, but now he is back to work.

I hate it, I can't tell you how much I fucking hate it, I would honestly sacrifice everyone I love to get his teacher to come round and do it for me.

We have always tried to shield DS from my mental health but it is coming out in spades at the moment and I am not sure how to deal with it all. My depression, anxiety and OCD are mulitplied, I honestly can't cope.,

Both of us would much prefer for him to play minecraft

Speak to your gp, but ultimately if it comes down to it and makes you both feel better, just let him play minecraft. In the short term it won’t harm him. It’s better than a mum on breaking point

I am struggling to get hold of my GP (or any doctor at my surgery) at the moment

It use to be so easy to hide it from him, get him to school and then hide in my bed for the day. I can't do that now and its exhuasting putting this face on

Have you tried your gp surgery website? Many like mine have adopted online contact as opposed to relying on telephones. Could you send them an email/request asking they contact you?

Can your DP work from home in the interim? If not then forget the school work and let him play computer games and watch films until you feel better

DoctorHildegardLanstrom · 09/06/2020 04:57

No DP can't work from home.

The website is what I am using (and also fucking hating) DS is difficult to explain he doesn't like doing the work, but not doing it makes him unhappy. Today I tried the whole well if you don't want to do it don't then 6 hours later we are still between science and english with spelling to do, because we had a 3 hour break inbetween,

Hi, do try again to speak to your GP. Is there a receptionist working, they can be good to say to that you have an urgent issue.
Have you tried telling your son that you're quite tired and need a rest, when you're finding things hard with the home-schooling? You could take a small break and then return to it.
Don't put too much pressure on yourself - you're not your son's teacher and so many are struggling.
