Complex Question - been off a/ds for over year - but going down hill again.

Hello girls - have been on/off this board for over a year after successfully overcoming PND using a/ds and counselling. However, it seems I am rapidly sliding down the slippery slope again. Obviously this is no PND but depression but all the signs are there again to the point that my family and a close friend have both sat me down and had "a talk" with me.

Anyway, have booked appt with counsellor and with the doctor, to try and combat it before it gets out of hand again.

My question is this. I quit smoking for three months a few months ago, but have started again. What are peoples thoughts/experiences of taking the anti-d drug used for helping quit smoking and the effects on their depression.

I realise this might not be the right time to think about quitting smoking and yet another example of me taking on too much and then crashing, but it was a thought I was having almost "killing to birds with one stone" of you will.

Any experiences/advise etc out there.

Manythanks

BBx

Hi BB, well done on recognising the signs and getting help, this is a really good first step.

I don't know about whether there are any links between the drugs and the smoking, but I believe that you can quit anytime (not sounding like I am on a soapbox - but stopped during a very stressful period).

If you want to quit, I would really recommend Allen Carr, www.easyway.co.uk hope the link works. It is quite a different way of stopping and for me worked a treat.

good luck bb, keep posting xx

Thanks Gingerone

Have tried the Allen Carr one before, but got upset because he doesn't like the idea of using patches etc. I have tried to quit about three times now! The most successful was using the patches, but wonder if using the ad drug along with them would help with the depression whilst also getting me off the the cigs thus improving self esteem/confidence etc!

Well done on quitting by the way and thanks for the post.
