Overbearing mother

Hi. My mother has always been overbearing (She's in her mid 50s, I'm in my early 30s). At the drop of a hat, she can make ANY situation about her, and has an uncanny ability of victimising herself.

I dropped the news today that I'm being furloughed from Tuesday. She was there for me and said motivating stuff. But somehow the conversation steered to other things. One thing led to another and she started victimising herself over it. How she's had it all bad, things are never her way, etc.

I'll give her the benefit of doubt that she may have had a panic attack, or something. But I so wish she was mindful of other people as well. At least her own daughter. She could have had a meltdown on any other day (as usual), and today, simply been there for me.

Sorry for the rant.
