Over the past week i have been struggling a lot more with mental health. I used to find it difficult to sleep at night with negative thoughts but now i am finding during the day these are creeping in. I am supporting two friends with losses at the minute so think this is at the forefront of my mind. I just feel so anxious and down a lot and have negative intrusive thoughts. Any advice on what you do to switch off

Have you tried headspace. It helped me massively during a very difficult period. I find doing it just keeps me more level.

Are you sure you're in a mentally well position to support your friends? You don't sound like it. Maybe it's time you stepped back a bit?

Yes, any sort of mindfulness or relaxation or yoga helps me. And running.

Other ideas: journaling, especially gratitude diary. Eating well, watching programmes you enjoy and are relaxing/uplifting. Being in nature.

And anti depressants are ultimately what help me!

Agree with Mary too

Thank you. I know what you mean i don't want to let them down but it is hard each day talking about loss in these times in particular where theres so much upset on tv and around.
I do some arty bits sometime. I do go for walks and excercise.
I'll try some meditation and see how that helps. Thanks you

i don't want to let them down

You're letting yourself down though.

You need to prioritise your own well-being, YOU should be what matters most to you.

So many of us have been conditioned to always put others first, even if that's to the detriment of ourselves. Its wrong and leads to much unhappiness and mental ill health. You need to be selfish right now otherwise you're just fucking yourself over.

Who is supporting you?
