Symptoms:

Tiredness. I could sleep for weeks and still want more..........

Dry course hair & dandruff (managed to kinf of sort out..)

Sex..............can take it or leave it..

Can't be bothered doing anything.

Struggle to loose baby weight. DS now 7 months old and I eat healthy ish although having ds and dd(2.4) sometimes I don't remember to eat..Not ideal I know BUT either way the weight doesn't shift.

Periods...........my cycle has always been around 28-34 days BUT since having ds its got longer........this month was 40 days . And its not as "easy" as it used to be.

Now I have seen my gp 2 months ago and I have just gone and booked to go back next week as I am thinking a blood test is needed and im thinking along the lines of "under active thyroid"..? Any suggestions...?

My gp gave me citalopram for pnd 2 months ago and tbh I don't feel I have improved much this time (been on them 1.5 years ago). Just looking at symptoms of UAT its does seem to match me.....???? Mainly because of my periods. I know they can change after child birth but THIS MUCH..?!

Underactive thyroid is a definite possibility - and it's often misdiagnosed as PND too, so that fits as well.

Definitely get that blood test done!

Curious as to what contraception you are on if any? You sound like I did a few months ago.

majorstress · 21/09/2007 15:32

go back to gp about ADs, you might need a different one, 2 months should be enough to notice an improvement I think.

I've lost weight since signing up for a vegetable box scheme, I have to eat all that fruit and veg before it goes bad, so less room for cake.

meanwhile, Exercise exercise exercise, you KNOW you have to-build it in to every day-buggy out! Coat on! snacks and nappies! OUT with you.

that what I (whispers: should) do.

Am OK ... ish!

I would bet a pound to a penny that you don't need those ads. It truly does sound like under-active thyroid - which can cause quite severe depression (which is why it's so commonly misdiagnosed).

It's also very, very common in the first 9 months after having a baby.

wwb.ish...................??? I hope I get an answer soon as to what it is as I
just feel drained.

Everyone says "oh having 2 under 2 is hard work"..BUT surely if it was THIS hard work people would say "DON'T DO IT"

Thing is MS, I do get exercise running after ds and dd, ds has been ill since birth and I haven't stopped and even having spent a week in hospital Im no lighter.!

I do also walk most days, usually around our village or I get out shopping etc. Obviosuly no mountain climbing..just yet .

shh...could be hyperthyroid, could be anaemia, could be diabetes, but also could be life ... it is busy and mums do get really tired , if i was ouyr gp i would suggest bloods to rule out the above and do routine check for kidney and liver function and advise if all normal may try change of ADs but i htink it may well be just this particular phase of yur life. good luck with your gp.

mummydoc · 21/09/2007 16:02

oops meant to type hypothyroid - sorry
