I honestly feel like a different person. I feel like me again after years. I want to live again! I want to do things and see places. I feel so relieved. I didn't think I could be helped but I can't believe how much better I feel!

Thank you so much everyone. Ive been unwell for ten years and this is the 5th type of medication I've tried, I was honestly at the point where I thought I just couldn't be helped

It's the only one that has made a difference here too

I’ll need to remember that name. I’m going through them as well. I’m on Prozac again. Tried sertraline, citralapram, Paroxatine over the past few years. Been on Prozac before but stopped working after a while. Prozacs the only one that’s gave me a bit of get up and go. I’ll say to my doctor about venlaxatine if this doesn’t work. Thanks

Isadora2007 · 08/05/2020 18:29

What were your main symptoms before that this has helped with? Glad it’s worked well for you.

Lonelylockdown22 · 08/05/2020 18:33

@Shopkinsdoll yeah definitely do! I've been on citalopram, sertraline, fluoxetine, duluoxetine and nothing had helped me anything like venlafaxine has

@lsadora2007 I felt guilty, worthless, I had no motivation to do anything, I had no interest in anything. I didn't see a future for myself and I didn't want to carry on. Feel like a different person now!

I've recently started Venlafaxine. May I ask what dosage you are on? At first I thought it may have been starting to help me but now I'm not so sure. Perhaps I need a higher dose.

Halli2020 · 10/05/2020 00:32

This shows me how everyone’s make up varies massively. A couple of years ago I went to the doctor with severe depression and he prescribed me 75mg of venlafaxine. I felt ok for the first two hours and ventured off into town. However as I was on the bus I had this feeling like I was going to Luke, with that I couldn’t breath and my heart rate went up, sweat poured off of my face and I thought I was dying. Luckily there was a walk in centre in town who took my heart rate which was 150 and said I was having a panic attack. After that I had panic attacks literally 5 times a day to the point it turned into agoraphobia. Venlafaxine SUCKED for me and made me really badly ill after just one dose. I had a bad break down shortly after. I am now on duloxetine and feel much better, I am able to go outside and do things although my anxiety is still there. I always suffered with nervousness but it wasn’t a problem until venlafaxine brought on my panic attacks. I’m glad it worked for you.

Difficultcustomer · 11/05/2020 11:34

Me too. I know it doesn’t work for everyone but has been great for me. It has made me an insomniac so have to take something for sleep but otherwise great.
I’m now on a really low dose, but not wanting to come off as when I tried had bad side effects and GP says safe to just stay at low dose.

notacatperson1 · 11/05/2020 14:11

I have been on venlafaxine for many years. They literally saved me. I starred on 75 mg then 150 mg then 225 mg
I am now weaning myself off them and have reduced the dose back to 150 mg

@Crispsmakemehappy ive just come across your post so I thought I’d give my feedback. I’ve been on 75mg since September. It took about 8 weeks to see an improvement but I’m getting there. X
