Hello all
I'm Jonathan and new to Mumsnet. I'm looking for some help with a book I have written for primary school age children, to help with their mental health. It's a storybook written with support from a psychologist and a wonderful illustrator.
A bit of background on me so you know what I do: I run a social enterprise called Evenhood providing support for mental health. I give talks in companies, universities and schools. I have a YouTube Channel (Evenhood) which provides free online mental health training. I've also written a couple of books for adults. I'm now working on a further book for teenagers (an activity workbook) and another for primary school age children (a storybook). The storybook is nearly ready. It's in the final stages of being illustrated.
A bit of background on Evenhood: Evenhood is a social enterprise; so it is for support, not profit. I have a paid career in law and financial services. I started Evenhood after my wife and I experienced a stillbirth of our first son. When I discovered what it is like to have a mental health challenge and the difficulties in getting support, I decided to do something about that. Evenhood aims to help people find a better way of talking about mental health, so they can get or give effective support.
The help I'm looking for is that I was aiming to work with a couple of primary schools to share the storybook through teaching staff to children. This is to get feedback so I can make any final improvements. That isn't possible now with lockdown, so I'm exploring whether I can get enough parent volunteers to help with feedback. You'd receive a final proof of the book with the aim of reading it with your children and then providing your joint feedback.
If anyone would like to help please drop me a line.
If you'd like to know about anything else I do, feel free to ask.
Wishing you all the v best and stay safe.
Jonathan
