Anyone used it before? Not been on meds for around 10years. Drs started me on 2mg. Would be interesting to hear people's experiences

Bump anyone?

Yes, I've been on it for nearly two years now with no issues at all.

Wolfiefan · 04/05/2020 18:55

Me! I’ve tried a few but this medication has been life changing. I can function. I can face the world and my anxiety is less. I use it in conjunction with CBT techniques.

chunkyrun · 04/05/2020 19:10

Any side effects? How does it make you feel?

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 04/05/2020 19:15

None at all.
No upset tum like setraline
No sleepiness.
No feeling like a zombie.
Just like me. But feeling like I can do life!

I’m on sertraline just now but it’s doing nothing for my depression. Spoke to the doctor today and she’s putting me on Prozac later on on the week. Been on it before and felt it helped me quite a lot with my depression. It had a get up and go feeling. There was feelings of anxiety with the drug to start with but it disappears after I got used to it.

chunkyrun · 04/05/2020 19:31

How long did the anxiety last for? I'm already pretty anxious

Reythemamajedi · 04/05/2020 19:36

I've been on it for about 12 years now. Side effects mean I take omeprazole also but it's great. I'm a better mother on it, stable and functioning. Without it I'm depressed and unable to function.

chunkyrun · 04/05/2020 19:45

Can I ask what the side effects are for you?

OP posts:
Springb0ks · 04/05/2020 20:08

I'm on it for anxiety and had no side effects at all. I started off on sertraline and had horrendous panic attacks and insomnia, fluoxetine has been great. CBT techniques also really helped, but only when I really stuck to them and engaged with them.

BlueCookieMonster · 04/05/2020 20:10

I’ve used it, nausea and tummy issues but otherwise feel like a normal person.

Shopkinsdoll · 04/05/2020 20:10

The anxiety lasted about a month for me, till I got used to it. I think a lot of people have anxiety as a side affect from the start. I couldn’t sleep properly at the start either.

Shopkinsdoll · 04/05/2020 20:11

Iv been on a few types of antidepressants but Prozac seems to be the only ones that seem to work for my depression.

Hayb24 · 04/05/2020 20:16

I have been on these before for a few years (not on them now). They worked best for me opposed to some other AD. I didn't have any terrible side effects, the only problem that I found is that I couldn't cry with tears. It sounds really weird but I would be physically crying but 90% of the time no tears would come out. Other than that no issues - I hope this helped Smile

It's saved me I felt better immediately on 20mg felt nausea and lost my appetite for a few weeks which tbh I loved as I lost a half a stone also felt tired but no.more than what I did feel with depression but couldn't believe how I hadn't tried it before six months on I still feel better than what I did before but I'm getting down again especially with lockdown thinking of asking them to.increase my dose Anyone been on a higher dose?

chunkyrun · 13/05/2020 20:45

I'm nearly two weeks in and I've never been so tired. Is this normal?

Strawberryshortcake28 · 15/05/2020 19:31

Yes ! Couldn't get through a day without napping it does get better

orangejuice1 · 12/06/2020 19:24

Hi @chunkyrun how are you getting on? I'm going to start my first dose tomorrow morning. I've been prescribed the tablets which come in 10mg (but have to take 2 tablets). Thinking of easing myself into it gently with 10 or even 5mg to start with.

Hope you are feeling ok!
