Does anyone take CBD oil for low mood?

I suffer from low mood/mild depression and anxiety and lockdown is making my usual coping strategies (keeping busy, time alone, treats) quite difficult/inaccessible. I'm considering trying some CBD oil and wondering if anyone has any experience?

Following this OP. I’ve been coping pretty well throughout lockdown but have been in a dark place this week. I was googling cbd this morning in fact.

AvocadoPrime · 03/05/2020 19:43

I do but literally just started. So no idea if it's going to work, I'm taking it to see if it helps my anxiety. Following so I can see other experiences.

SardineOil · 03/05/2020 19:45

Following this as I have been looking into it also, not sure whether to take it as an oil, vape or edibles? @AvocadoPrime how do you take it?

AvocadoPrime · 03/05/2020 19:56

@SardineOil I take mine as an oil. I feel that way I can tailor the dosage better. At the moment I am trying 2 drops under my tounge morning and night. I brought some from simply CBD. Also ordered some from holland and barret. It's in the penny sale so saved quite a bit by buying two.

RRocket · 03/05/2020 20:44

I've tried a few but never really had any effect.

I'd be willing to fork out for one if I thought it definitely helped.

supercee · 03/05/2020 20:45

Yes I do and it's the best thing I've ever done.

Didn't get on with Sertraline. Been taking CBD oil for a while now and I only get anxiety when I drink too much (lockdown isn't helping this!). I wouldn't recommend Holland & Barrett, expensive for a very low dose. I buy online from a company where the prices are very reasonable. I now don't religiously take it 3 times a day (recommend), just a squirt after brushing my teeth.

It may be a placebo but I could tell when I ran out.

supercee · 03/05/2020 20:46

Sorry forgot to say I also got mine from Simply CBD. Their FB page is excellent and there are loads of oils including starter oils. I personally prefer the Gold.

AgentCooper · 03/05/2020 22:01

If anyone has vaped it I’d be interested to hear. I already vape low nicotine.

SardineOil · 04/05/2020 10:08

I have just looked at simply CBD and looked at the starter oils. I’ll be definitely ordering one on pay day. I’m on 200 mg of sertraline but this lockdown situation has got me feeling I need a little something more

barnstaples · 04/05/2020 11:22

I think I'm going to buy some oil from Endoca and give it a go. My work have just said to plan on being working remotely until at least September and I am already not in a v good place.

How long do you give it to feel an impact do you suppose?

OP posts:
SardineOil · 04/05/2020 11:23

@barnstaples maybe a month? Suppose it’s like anything else take a bit of time to get into your system

Nat6999 · 04/05/2020 11:49

I vape cbd for pain relief, I've managed to reduce the amount of painkillers I take for Fibromyalgia, ME/CFS & Arthritis by using cbd instead. I vape 2000mg mixed with my usual vape juice, I buy mine from KLM Tech, I get 4 & 20ml shots for £39.99 which lasts me about 3 months because I don't mix the shots with a whole bottle of juice, just add a few drops to my tank when I need to.

SardineOil · 04/05/2020 12:06

@Nat6999 I would like to try vaping but I’ve never smoked so think I’d struggle with it Smile

AgentCooper · 04/05/2020 18:59

@SardineOil I’m also on 200ml sertraline, I’d love to know how you get on.

I’ve heard vaping is the quickest delivery system but can see how that might be a step too far if you hadn’t smoked previously.

AvocadoPrime · 04/05/2020 20:17

The people that do take it.. how many times a day and how much do you take? I'm still just learning and sounds like I wont see results for a while. But I need it to work. I'm using the light CBD from simply CBD at the moment 2 drops morning and 2 drops night

supercee · 04/05/2020 20:35

@AvocadoPrime I think you are supposed to build up slowly until you find your 'sweet spot' as they call it. Too much can have a detrimental effect. They recommend a drop 2/3 times a day, then 2 drops 2/3 times a day etc to build up.

I'm taking a big drop morning and evening but might add in one at lunchtime as my anxiety is heightened at the moment and I haven't been religious at taking it.

IjustbelieveinMe · 07/05/2020 10:11

I buy this CBD oil from the states.
www.hemple.com/product/hemple-sigma-300mg/
I have been taking it twice a day for the last month or so. I can tell when I have taken too much as it makes me a bit wired or jittery. But I honestly believe it makes me more focused while working from home, I seem to get into a zone. I still feel anxious from time to time, but have only had two major anxiety attacks in the last month, which compared to at least once every other day, is pretty good I reckon. I am starting to sleep all the way through the night now too.
I think it works in the same way as anti-depressants, so you have to give it time, and then continue to take it. I am not going to stop taking it.

IjustbelieveinMe · 07/05/2020 10:14

Sorry I meant to add I have maybe half of the dropper full twice a day. With maybe a couple of drops at lunchtime if I am stressed. You are also supposed to drop it under your tongue and keep your tongue lifted to the roof of your mouth for at least a minute so the oil is absorbed better through your blood tissue.

Pandemiccrisismode · 07/05/2020 13:54

Just a reminder to check if you are taking antidepressants. Sertraline has an interaction with CBD oil and it's is important not to stop Sertraline suddenly.
