Sertraline is very very widely tolerated. 25mg is a tiny dose. The normal starting dose is 50mg. I've tried Sertraline myself, didn't get on that well with them but they didn't do me any harm. Same with the other 4 antidepressants I tried. Citalopram gave me very vivid dreams and made me somewhat stroppy and Paroxetine gave me these weird little visual hallucinations and a few memory blanks. I was told that they wouldn't try me on any more of that class and it was noted down as intolerable side effects. They said it was unusual and that the majority of people had no side effects at all. None of these things were permanent and imo not severe. They did me no lasting harm at all but I was still taken off them. So you see, even if you dont react normally to them, the chances of them harming you are slim to none. Worst case scenario you feel a bit grotty for a couple of weeks while you adjust to them. It's the worst part of depression, the way it controls you through anxiety and prevents you doing anything to help yourself.
