DS is bipolar and manic

DS is 19 and his meds and general situation mean that he is usually fairly low and has been for a year or so. In the last few weeks though something has changed - I don't know what - and he is rapid cycling.

His last manic episode a couple of weeks ago led to him being sectioned as he was so completely off the scale, and a danger to himself and others. He will never forgive me for that as it was so traumatic for him.

Now he is manic again, and I really don't know what to do. I phoned his MH nurse who said that he had presented fine to her when they spoke (I think he can mask it on the phone) and she didn't believe me - it's fair to say he has issues with me, and I know has spoken to her about that as she mentioned something about it to me.

How the hell do I keep him safe?

You phone the MH nurse again and tell her he is masking during his interactions with her and that you need help with his medication because he is doing XYZ. Be very specific.

Phoned the nurse, who told me it's impossible for him to mask. I ran through the list of things that he is doing that lead me to believe that he is manic, and she said she would consult a Dr and call me back. She hasn't.

I know that everyone is overstretched with Corona, but I really don't know how to get through this.

I would chase, manic episodes often get worse without intervention. When did you speak to her? Do you have an email address?

I spoke to her around lunchtime, as they were supposed to be bringing DS some new meds, but he went out instead so there was no point in them coming.

I will chase her in the morning, and I will call my GP as well to see if they can help.
