I've been having some sort of breakdown since last Friday,
Severe physical and mental symptoms of panic and anxiety.
I've been prescribed Prozac and propanalol and it's literally not touched me.
I feel like I have lost my mind. The physical symptoms are terrifying me.
I don't know what to do

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

Prozac and other SSRIs take weeks to work, so you wouldn’t see much effect from them at this point if you’ve only started on them last week. I’ve seen mixed researcher on how effective propanalol is. It really reduces some of the symptoms such as rapid heart beat, etc.

In the meantime, there are some mindfulness apps that can help you get through the short term. Anxiety is hell. Flowers

Been through it myself, hang on it will get better but it'll take a few weeks just be kind to yourself.
What helped me:

  1. Talking kindly in my head, mothering myself in my head continuously saying "your ok, your ok, it'll be better, there's no need to panic, your ok, your loved, don't worry etc etc etc" on CONSTANT repeat. (Got this from my counsellor)
  2. Counsellor...you can have phone appointments or if you prefer face to face I'm sure they'll have the technology
  3. Breathing slow, slowly in and very slowly out this is scientifically proven to lower your heart rate physiologically
  4. Taking medication
  5. Practicing some religion or mediation or higher thinking/ research
  6. Walking
You'll get through this xxx

I feel like I'm struggling to breathe enough, my heart is beating really hard and loud.
I feel light headed and tingly. I've tried 111 but no answer. I'm terrified this is more than a panic

A panic attack will make you frightened it's more than that.

Just focus on slowing down your breathing. Count as you breathe in slowly so that your tummy expands, hold that breath for a few seconds, then count as you slowly breathe out.

In for seven, hold for four, out for eleven works for me but you can experiment - the point is to slow it down from those rapid, shallow breaths that are making you light headed.

Just focus on slowing down your breathing and breathing deeply (not just in the top of your chest). Nothing else. Breathing.

There is an app called Breathe you can download to follow while you're trying to do this.

Thank you so much for your support.
It's slowly faded tonight but it's still very much under the surface.
I'll try the app and the techniques. I'll try anything. This is hell.
