I take citalopram, made a difference to me for depression and anxiety.

I’ve just been prescribed Mirtazipine (sp?)
Slightly different to SSRI but has made a huge difference to me. I had horrific reactions to citalopram.

Citalopram worked well for me for a while. Sertraline definitely worth trying.

Strange thing is, the same person can respond differently to the same drug at different times. I have been on Prozac twice, first time worked ok, second time just made me sick.

My husband has crippling OCD. Flourexitine 40mg has been keeping it under wraps for the most part. Tje biggest help though was therapy after him self medicating with alcohol for many years.

The strongest serotonin reuptake inhibitor, I think, is not actually an SSRI. It's the tricyclic Clomipramine. That doesn't mean it's really "best" of course, but perhaps some older medicines are being underused today.

I have had very severe OCD (starting to recover now) and I take Clomipramine daily and have done since 2017 in varying doses.

Citalopram was brilliant but then the guidelines changed and they lowered the maximum dose allowed, I didn’t do well on the lower dose.

Sertraline didn’t work for me & neither did fluoxetine (Prozac)

Lofepramine, highest dose, has been working well for several years but I’m beginning to struggle at this stressful time!

It’s trial and error as to what suits you tbh.
