Help for friend

Very worried. Elderly friend is being assaulted by young male relative who lives with her. He is becoming increasingly violent but she won’t call the police when he does it. I want to help her but don’t know how.

She is a vulnerable person. You need to report it yourself.

He needs reporting ASAP. How vile!
Poor woman. He needs to leave and live somewhere else. Why should she be treated like this in her own home?!
Call the police!!!!!!

You can report it to social services, your local council, the police, even ask other neighbours for back up, if that feels safe. A charity like Age Concern might well have a freephone helpline that can advise you of the best course of action in the circumstances.

Please follow this up somehow, you might be her only hope. But also take advice to protect your anonymity if you're afraid of reprisals. Best of luck
