I’ve had a stressful week, have barely slept. Ate something rich that didn’t agree with me last night and have had an upset stomach this morning. I’m shaking, feel so convinced I’m going to be sick and so pathetic for getting like this.

Any advice?Sad

Hey. I'm a proper phobic too, as in all of my lifetime, take long term medication type of phobic (not a faux-phobic).

Relax, you aren't going to be sick. You are lacking sleep, which will make you feel fairly queasy, and the added stress won't help. The upset stomach from rich food is just that, an upset stomach - it'll pass. You've tipped over into panic and thats making you focus on your stomach, now it feels bigger than everything.

Sip some iced or cold water or something fizzy. Distract yourself - try a calming meditation on you tube or Spotify, through earphones. Do your breathing exercises.

This is simply panic, ride it out. You'll be fine, nobody is vomiting on my watch! Flowers

Hi, so sorry your feeling sick, I’m emetophobic too. I can’t see it being a bug, probably just stress, have you got any anti sickness tablets or antacids ?

Thanks both. I’m taking both your advice, sipping water and taking something. Feeling a little better. It just seems so bad when the wave of panic and sickness comes over me. I can go months without being like this, used to be worse when I was younger then it suddenly comes on and I feel so sick and panicked.

Ugh I remember it well, it's the worst - I've not had that for a long time, but I remember walking or pacing clutching a bottle of cold water was my only relief. I often walked the streets locally at 3am if I was having a bad night.

That or watching something really absorbing on TV. I remember figure skating miraculously lifting me out of one cycle of sickness wave/panic/more sickness waves, because I was busy marveling at how they stayed upright!

Glad you're feeling better, keep at it. Can you get some sleep or do you have to deal with children or go to work?

Both! Husbands off to work soon and I need to get myself started on getting ready. Think I’ll feel calm enough to have a shower soon. Thanks for all your help. I’ve done that in the middle of the night! It’d often be a house renovation programme that I’d never normally watch!
