My DH is a manic depressive.

Related to past severe bullying at school (he's now 42, but can't let go), and exacerbated by working with complete tossers. Whilst yes they are tossers to a point I felt that DH mental health/past events were affecting his ability to be able to deal with these individuals. To put it into context its an all male environment in a small local firm and the two managers speak to everyone in the same way..like complete shit. However they just shout something back and get on with their jobs. DH on the other hand says he is being "bullied" and every horrible thing said kills a little bit of him inside. He was overlooked for a promotion at work which he has taken REALLY personally despite the fact that the job in itself didn't exist after the last bloke left (if that makes sense).

His mood and attitude to life in general is now having a detrimental effect on our home life and kids so I told him to go to the GP who has now prescribed 45mg of Mirtz.

I've mentioned to him that CBT may also help him dealing with certain situations but he has point blank refused this as an option.

Please tell me they are going to work? I've been on the verge of walking out with the kids over the past few months due to his moods. I can only be supportive to a point!

I started Mirtazapine a few months ago, albeit a lower dose than you mention. It has helped me a bit. I hope it helps with your situation.

Mirtzapine took me out of my last bout of depression. I am on 30mg.

helped me a few years back. Lifted mood and helped massively with sleeping through the night. Easy to put on weight whilst on it. Had to change in the end as i slowly developed athralgia in fingers then knees that got progressively worse the longer i was on it
