I'm so scared I'm making it going to make wrong decisions whilst I'm battling with my mental health.

I'm on the edge of quitting my job (well paid in the career I've built for 15 years) I can't focus can't concentrate I keep getting irrational thoughts about just getting up and walking away from it all.

I'm not thinking at all about self harm. But my decisions could have long lasting impacts across my whole family and I need help

I am so reluctant to get signed off work because ultimately it does nothing to alleviate stress as I'm in a sales and marketing role and my quarterly targets still remain regardless

It sounds like you're right in the thick of it at the moment...and I wish there was a right/wrong answer I could give you for your dilemma but we both know there isn't one. From reading what you've written, you have enough rationale currently to understand there will be massive repercussions to walking away from your job but I am reading that your mental illness is currently taking center stage and that is making you feel like you want to quit, is that right?
I wonder if as a first port of call you could try getting signed off or telling your manager you are struggling with stress. You seem to have decided that this won't help anything but it is at least a smaller step than throwing in the towel.
If however, you decide that you need to walk away, then perhaps it is a sign that you need to address the fear and irrational thoughts and take steps to improve your life. The direction that that could take is impossible for any of us to know.
I hope you can find a decision you feel comfortable with.

Thank you so much for listening and for your help.

Maybe some time signed off is my best option to have a think without the cloud of targets and customer meetings.

Thank you

Perhaps hormonal/peri-menopausal issues are causing your problems.

charlesthekudu · 04/02/2020 20:16

@Aquamarine1029 is that something a Dr could check for? I think I'm going for the menopause (I hope so anyway I'd like to add to my family)

Blood tests are usually unreliable in confirming peri, as the diagnosis is made from the symptoms you have. Brain fog, anxiety/increased anxiety, mental health issues are all very common in peri. HRT is a lifesaver, and it is also very important in maintaining your heart and bone health, especially if you've started peri a bit on the younger side. Are you having any other issues that are impacting you? This is a very informative little article...
