Citalopram

I'm 5 weeks into taking this and honestly don't feel any better. I'm taking it mostly for anxiety and GP said it usually takes a bit longer to kick in (10-12 weeks) so I'm sticking it out to see how it goes.

However I seem to be permanently tired, not sleeping well, feeling flat, numb, disassociated, empty, and unmotivated. I just have the occasional flashes of feeling more like me.

This can't be right can it? Or is this just part of the adjustment period? Started on 10mg, now on 20mg.

Every one has different responses to different medication. I started Citalopram on 10mg but didn't go up to 20mg until after 8 weeks. The adjustment period was strange when I started them but settled after a few weeks.

I would discuss your feelings with your GP. They may decide to try a different anti depressant. I would try and stick with it until 8 weeks have gone. Keep a diary of moods though.
Good luck. Hopefully you will find the correct help. It's difficult coming through the fog but so worthwhile.

When did you move up to 20mg?

I went up to 20mg 8 days ago.

I really hope it kicks in soon. I've been so tempted to just stop so I can get my highs back, despite having the awful lows. I need to feel joy!
