Being on a high

I have bipolar and am definitely on a high. What can I do to keep myself safe and hopefully ride it out until I come down again?

I spoke to my psychiatrist on Monday and he told me to stop my antidepressant straight away and to increase my mood stabiliser but it’s not helped so far. I have to call him again tomorrow.

I’m getting myself into bad situations (one night stands, arranging threesomes) and don’t seem to be able to stop.

I try to take it easy when I am high, if it possible. I have some olanzapine prn which I try to take. I am usually getting high in April -May time. (And depressed in September-October)

Try to find a safe outlet, that excess energy has to go somewhere mine is not exactly healthy but it helps me doing anything stupid I go to town and really blow of steam. I'm on olanzapine routinely so make sure I take that but also have 21 diazepam a week prn so I just take that to keep me stable until the mood passes.

A very safe outlet I've found is online gaming I can stay up all night and I get completely lost in the game it's a complete escape from my life as I can believe I'm a elven mage or whatever character I choose to play, and make lots of online friends. I also have a friend who suffers insomnia who helps me by just talking to me. You need to find something fun which is limited in its ability to destroy or harm you and your life.
