Is anyone else finding the New Year particularly difficult this year? I have GAD, depression and agoraphobia and have coped really well over the holidays but a couple of days ago I just totally unexpectedly crumbled into a total wreck. I am trying very hard to keep busy which helps a bit but I keep dissolving into tears for no apparent reason. Anyone else struggling and how do you deal with it?

Hi dancingthroughthedark, I came on here as an feeling much like you. Suffer with GAD and panic disorder and depression. I felt quite positive before Christmas but now my mood and anxiety levels are awful. I’m hoping that getting back into normal routine will help. My husband has been off work and he gets very stressed with our 5 yr old daughter. 😩 hope things improve for you 🤞🏻

I am finding the evenings the hardest. I live alone most of the time now as youngest is at Uni . I find myself looking out the window just in the hope of seeing another person passing by. Due to agoraphobia I don't have the getting back to work tomorrow to look forward too. I do work but from home so this is my normal routine, its just that it doesn't usually bother me so much.

Does that mean that you’ve had company over Christmas and now you’re feeling the difference a bit more than normal? I’ve suffered with GAD for years, you’re welcome to msg me if you want someone to chat to. I’ve realised that I’ve let the good things I was doing before Christmas slip - I’ve not done any exercise or relaxation so I’m hoping that getting back on track will calm me down a bit x

7996cath Thank you I may well take up your offer later. I have had my family here over Xmas some staying, some visiting, but everyone is back to the normal work, uni school now. I realise I need to make some plans for each day and get into a routine so I have things to do throughout the day rather than this morning where here I am at half past nine with all the work I had for today done already!

Please do message if you feel like it, suffering from anxiety can be pretty lonely. My husband works from home but he is pretty busy most of the time so I end up feeling bad for interrupting him. Currently working out what to do now that my daughter is at school and working outside of the home isn’t an option at the moment 🤷‍♀️
