Hello I’m new here and I’m suffering so bad from health anxiety tonight, it always seems to peak at this time of year! I’m always obsessing about my health and end up getting myself so wound up. Tonight I’m in a panic about a mole I’ve had for a while now so what do I do? Google it (I know I shouldn’t) and have now got myself upset and so anxious! Anyone else get this? How do I cope? Any help or advice would be appreciated thank you

I’m also really anxious about my health and I don’t have any tips unfortunately because I get myself so worked up and upset. One thing I have found that helps is getting a glass of water and taking an hour just to concentrate on breathing and taking slow sips of water. I try to distract myself for the rest of the night, I normally find podcasts the best way to tune it out. Tomorrow you might find you’re not so concerned about it but if you are, you’re in a better position to get some advice.

Thank you so much for your reply. Sometimes just knowing your not alone in feeling this way is a comfort. Feeling slightly better today, the thing is I know I’m being irrational but it’s hard to switch it off.

You sound like you might need some counselling to find out what has triggered it and how to overcome it.

Have you tried Bach Flower rescue remedy, they do specific remedies for different anxieties.
You can buy them from Holland and Barrett or Superdrug.

Yes definitely going to see about some counselling in new year I can’t keep having these spells 👍 I went to Holland and Barret yesterday and got valerian tablets going to see if they help first, thank you ☺️

Go to the G.P and get your mole looked at and tell them about your anxiety, they can refer you for counselling.

Try and distract your mind. Watch YouTube videos about something unrelated to health!

Good luck 😉

I hope the valerian tablets help you!

Ah OP I can empathise I used to have this .. until I had emergency brain surgery and now my health anxiety ( and all anxiety) has disappeared. Not a solution I recommend but what I did learn is that the things you spend so long worrying about almost never happen. Health anxiety is so exhausting. Hope you get some peace of mind from the GP.

I haven't got great advice but I do know how you feel and you are not alone. I have it and it's exhausting. I'm a catholic and I pray I find it comforting and it helps. I would suggest going to doctors and getting it checked then when you are feeling better discuss cbt or some anti depressants for anxiety.

Thank you to everyone for your replies! Sometimes knowing your not alone in feeling this way is a great comforter. I can be fine for weeks on end then it just flares up, hoping a chat with my gp will help and I can move forward with this x thanks to all ☺️
